Yuanzhao Zhang

Simons Empire Assistant Professor

Yuanzhao works at the boundary between nonlinear dynamics and machine learning, building tools that translate between the two. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from Northwestern University in 2020 under Adilson Motter, then held a Schmidt Science Fellowship at Cornell with Steven Strogatz. From 2022 to 2026 he was an Omidyar Fellow at the Santa Fe Institute, and joins the University of Rochester in 2026 as a Simons Empire Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy.
